Winter is undoubtedly the coldest season of the year. It occurs after autumn and before summer in each year. It is caused by the axis of the Earth in that hemisphere being oriented away from the Sun. Different cultures define different dates as the start of winter, and some use a definition based on weather. In Zimbabwe winter usually starts in dry periods in May, June, July and August. The coldest month is July with an average maximum temperature of 21°C (70°F).
A lot of people in the country had thought that this year’s winter had ended early when temperatures had changed during the end of the month of June. July then proved to be the coldest as compared to May and June this year. People jokingly say that during the winter season, that is when most sexual reproduction occurs because of the cold weather.
