South African Rapper Riky Rick has died.

Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, popularly known as Riky Rick, has died. The 34 year old Boss Zonke hitmaker passed away earlier in the morning today. His passing has shocked many of his fans as there are reports that he took his life at his home in the north of Johannesburg. Ricky Rick received mainstream fame in 2015 with his album family values making him an influence in South African hip-hop culture. 


The owner of Cotton festival, Riky Rick was also well known for his fashion sense, often setting trends for many trends.
Riky Rick had chronic depression and shared his struggled with it and had even openly shared with his fans and the media. The rapper had also been practicing sobriety as he had experienced alcohol and drug abuse throughout his life 
His family released a statement that said: “The family of South African artist Riky Rick with profound sadness this afternoon confirmed his untimely passing.


“Affectionately known as Riky Rick across the globe, he was deeply loved by his family, friends and the entire entertainment industry.
“His love for family, friends and community is well known. Ricky’s nurturing and developing of young musical talent is well documented, and will forever be remembered.
“He leaves behind his wife, two children, his mother and five siblings.
“The Makhado family humbly request privacy as they go through this extremely difficult period of grieving”
