World’s richest man Jeff Bezos made history today by becoming the world’s richest astronaut. This comes after he flew to space on Tuesday morning with his brother Mark Bezos, astronaut Wally Funk(82) and Dutch teen student Oliver Daemen(18) on the first commercial space flight.

They took off from Launch Site One in Van Horn, Texas, at 9.12am on the first human flight of New Shepard.
New Shepard was built by Bezos’ company Blue Origin. It is designed to serve the burgeoning market for space tourism. Bezos and his crew reportedly travelled in a capsule with the biggest windows flown in space, offering stunning views of the Earth.

They flew in zero gravity for four minutes, during which time they threw skittles into each other’s mouths
When the capsule touched back down after the 10-minute, 10-second flight, Jeff Bezos exclaimed:
“Best day ever!”. When they touched down on earth, ecstatic Bezos reportedly first greeted his mother, Jacklyn, then his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez.

Speaking during an interview after his launch into space, Jeff Bezos described his journey to space as the ‘perfect mission’ and a ‘tiny little step’ in his masterplan to build a road to space where he thinks the world’s major industries will be able to operate in the future to save planet Earth.

He announced he’d sold $100million in tickets for two future flights that will take place later in 2021
Bezos also added that he wants to build a ‘road to space’ that will move Earth’s damaging industries to space and save the planet.
